How it works (simple explanation)
A butterfly valve works using a rotating disc placed in the center of the pipe.
- When the valve is fully open, the disc rotates parallel to the flow, allowing fluid to pass with minimal resistance.
- When the valve is closed, the disc rotates perpendicular to the flow and blocks the passage.
- The valve operates with a quarter-turn (90° rotation) from fully open to fully closed.
This simple mechanism allows quick flow control with minimal mechanical components.
