Metering Skids
Product Overview
Metering Skids are fully integrated, factory-assembled systems designed to accurately measure the flow of liquids or gases in industrial processes. All necessary components—flow meters, valves, filters/strainers, pressure and temperature transmitters, flow computers, and piping—are mounted on a structural steel base (skid).
They are commonly used in oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, and water treatment industries for custody transfer, allocation, and process control applications.

How it works (simple explanation)
- The fluid (liquid or gas) enters the skid through the inlet line.
- It passes through a strainer or filter to remove debris.
- The flow meter (e.g., turbine, ultrasonic, Coriolis, or orifice plate) measures the flow rate.
- Pressure and temperature sensors collect additional data.
- A flow computer calculates standardized flow values and totalized volume or mass.
- The fluid exits through the outlet line after measurement.
The system ensures precise measurement and can automatically compensate for temperature and pressure variations.
What it measures
Depending on configuration, a metering skid can measure:
- Volumetric flow rate (m³/h, GPM, etc.)
- Mass flow rate (kg/h, lb/h)
- Totalized flow (cumulative volume or mass)
- Pressure
- Temperature
- Density (with certain meter types like Coriolis)
Key advantages
- High accuracy and repeatability
- Factory-tested and calibrated
- Compact, modular design
- Easy transportation and installation
- Reduced on-site construction time
- Compliance with international standards (API, ISO, OIML)
- Suitable for hazardous areas (ATEX/IECEx optional)
Applications
- Oil & gas custody transfer
- Refinery and petrochemical process measurement
- Natural gas distribution
- Fuel loading terminals
- Power plant fuel measurement
- Chemical processing plants
- Water and wastewater systems
Installation
Basic Installation Steps:
- Position the skid on a flat, vibration-free foundation.
- Anchor the skid securely using foundation bolts.
- Connect inlet and outlet piping.
- Connect electrical and communication cables.
- Perform pressure testing and leak checks.
- Calibrate and commission the system.
Proper grounding and alignment are critical for accurate measurement.
