Thermocouple
Product Overview
A Thermocouple is a widely used temperature sensor designed for measuring a broad range of temperatures in industrial, commercial, and scientific applications. It is known for its durability, fast response time, and ability to operate reliably in extreme environments such as high temperatures, vibration, and harsh process conditions.

How it works (simple explanation)
A thermocouple is made from two different metal wires joined at one end (called the measuring junction). When this junction is exposed to heat, it produces a small electrical voltage. This voltage changes with temperature. The measuring instrument converts this voltage into an accurate temperature reading.
What it measures
- Temperature
- Measures temperature differences between the sensing junction and a reference point
Key advantages
- Wide temperature measurement range
- Fast response to temperature changes
- Simple and rugged construction
- Suitable for high-temperature and harsh environments
- Cost-effective compared to many other temperature sensors
Applications
- Industrial furnaces and kilns
- Boilers and heat exchangers
- Power plants
- Chemical and petrochemical processes
- Food processing equipment
- HVAC systems
- Engine and exhaust temperature monitoring
Installation
- Installed directly into the process using a thermowell or protective sheath
- Can be mounted in pipes, tanks, ducts, or machinery
- Proper cold junction compensation is required for accurate readings
- Ensure correct thermocouple type and polarity during wiring
